Galavant Season 2 Finale

galavant_season_2_posterAs the Jester Steve McKenzie marched and stood circled in front of the two armies about to go to war in the Galavant season finale, there was suspense. And as he began his recap Galavant season 2 recap and the events of the second season were impressively sung to the characters and to the audience his enthusiasm and drama added to the very suspense and excitement the season finale. The characters’ plotlines recollided, characters were reunited, and music, both entertaining and beautiful was throughout.

Galavant and Richard joined the battle between the the armies of Valencia and Hortensia, with their half-dead army, Galavant and Isabella were reunited as was Gareth and Richard. Galavant and Isabella, deeply in love with one another, understanding the miscommunication and misunderstanding that occurred, and happy to spend their entire lives working on their kisses and enjoying the non-adventurous lifestyle. Richard and Gareth, with no grudges towards the other and mutual respect for each other’s emotional growth. Richard was a loyal true friend and “The One True King to Unite Them All”, no longer the sheltered boy he had been, but a man who had made his own decisions and mistakes, learned and loved (in friendship, family, and romance). And Sid was able to forgive himself, finding redemption for accidentally stabbing Galavant with a sword.

Madalena’s decisions to put herself first came with serious consequences as trust was lost between her and Gareth. And her obsession for control and power became more dangerous to herself and EVERYONE as she became hooked on the D’Dew (The Dark Dark Evil Way).

And the “Season 2 Finale” song was fantastic. As the status of Galavant’s renewal for a third season is unknown, the show ended with a wonderful return of the Valencian monks, led of course by Weird Al Yankovic, singing how great the show has been, how amazing they’ve wrapped up storylines, and how if the cleverness of the show is not appreciated or understood fully (which I can say, I understand how the jokes are not always seen as clever or as a commentary on a subject, but as an unsuccessful joke) much like the last season, they will “probably have go and get work on some cheap ass cable network”. Wonderfully Weird Al stated, “But the door is not quite shut”, and the viewers were presented with content that will be in season three if the show is renewed.

After an amazing second season I can say that, as I’ve said before, “Galavant is an amazing, funny, and clever musical comedy. With wonderful actors, music, costumes and locations, it’s a wonderful show to watch. It’s creative, witty, and doesn’t take itself too seriously.”Galavant review, analysis, appreciation.
